Wood-burning gift ideas

Everything below is a real piece off the bench at its real price. There is no cart here.

Every one of these starts as driftwood foraged off a Lake Erie beach, cut and cured, drawn with a hot tip and finished with beeswax from the family farm's hives. Nothing is stained or inked — that colour is heat. Buy at the booth, or email and I'll hold a piece with a name on it.

Small money, real object

Under $20

The whole bench sits low. These are the pieces people buy at the booth without thinking about it too hard, and the ones that get worn every day afterwards.

  • Pendant alone

One driftwood pendant, burned by hand, no lace. Good for someone who already wears a chain they like.

    $15

  • Necklace — pendant + buckled hemp lace

The complete thing: pendant plus adjustable hemp lace from a provider here in town. Nothing is stained or inked — that colour is heat.

    $20

  • Sage set — 3 bundles + burning block

Three herb bundles grown by hand in clay pots, plus a burning block cut from the same driftwood as the pendants.

    $10

  • Blank hemp lace

Lace on its own — a stocking-filler for someone who already has a pendant.

    $10

A name, a date, two initials

Personalized

Letters burn well above about 8mm, which is most of a pendant face. Below that the strokes start to close up and I will say so before you pay.

  • Initials or name pendant

Two or three characters across the grain, on hemp lace. Send the spelling exactly as you want it burned — I burn what you write.

    $20

  • Custom motif emblem

A shape that means something to one person: a coastline, a dog's ear, a band's mark. The cord unclips, so it converts to a necklace.

    $20

  • Custom signs and wall pieces

Names, house numbers, a line someone says too often. Quoted per piece once I know the board size and the wording.

Compass lines and mountain ridges

For the adventurer

Simple line work at pendant size: ridgelines, a compass rose, a treeline. These hold up because they are silhouettes, and silhouettes are what heat is good at.

  • Mountain or compass pendant

A ridge or a compass burned across the growth rings, so the ring lines cut through the drawing. That is on purpose.

    $20

  • Car-mirror emblem

Hung short so it does not swing into your sightline. For the person whose car is where they actually live.

    $20

Want to know what's on the bench?

One note when a batch of pendants comes off the bench and where the booth lands next — useful if you're shopping for someone before a date on the calendar.

Grown here, cut here

For the plant person

Sage grown by hand in clay pots and propagated from cuttings — garden-grown, never wild-harvested. Sold as a bundle and a block, nothing more claimed than that.

  • Sage set — 3 bundles + burning block

The block catches ash and takes a scorch mark of its own over the years, which is half the point of it.

    $10

  • Sage refill — 3 bundles

Three more bundles when the first set runs out. Keep the block.

    $7

Keep one, leave one

The experience gift

Half an hour at the booth instead of an object in a box. They make two necklaces: one goes home with them, one stays on the shelf, and they get 11% when theirs sells.

  • Workshop seat — 30 minutes at the booth

I set the heat, show the grip, and let the first wobbly strokes go on a scrap. Ages ten and up with an adult sitting alongside.

    $49
