What it is
One common element in every piece — THE MOUNTAIN. Around it, the sky changes: a moon, twin moons, a star, lightning, a stream, a sun. Every piece different, all mountains. The natural driftwood crack becomes the side of the mountain and the place Mike cuts in the frame. Each disc is burned by hand, sealed with beeswax and put on a hemp cord. No laser, ever — every mark burned by hand by a human.
What Mike was thinking
Monkey Mike calls this ‘the next biggest edition that I'm most proud of.’ In his words: ‘These took a while. They are my best work... This is the best example of my work.’ Mountain of Dreams is his flagship: time at the bench, following a crack instead of hiding it, giving each mountain its own sky.
Why it matters
Pieces break, get lost, get misprocessed — the edition size is however many survive. Thirty pieces made it onto this shelf, each with its own registry number. Don't wear jewelry? Hang it from your mirror. It rides with you.
